FASHION JEWELRY: THE COLLECTION OF BARBARA BERGER

Harrice Miller is an internationally recognized jewelry historian, consultant, appraiser, author and dealer in collectible fashion jewelry. She is the author of five jewelry books, including three price guides, Kenneth Jay Lane: Faking It, and Fashion Jewelry: The Collection of Barbara Berger, for which she was the Guest Curator for the exhibition of the same name at the Museum of Arts and Design in 2013-14. In 1995 Harrice pioneered the costume jewelry auction market for Christie’s East as their specialist for the groundbreaking sale of “Period Couture Clothing and Costume Jewelry”. In 2000 she acquired the important private collection of Robert Goossens, designer for Chanel, Balenciaga, Dior and Madame Grès for the Christie’s East sale “Couture Jewels: The Designs of Robert Goossens”. One of the highlights in Harrice’s illustrious jewelry career was when she purchased the personal costume jewelry collection of the late movie star Ann Miller, which was so massive it took over two years to sell. She was engaged by Christie’s in 2011 to appraise and catalog Elizabeth Taylor’s extensive costume jewelry collection for their upcoming sale of her estate. Harrice has been featured on numerous television and radio shows and has been the subject of articles in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Self, Traditional Home, Town and Country, among others. She has lectured about fashion jewelry at Yale, Pratt, The University Club and at the Miami Beach Antiques Show Jewelry Series. In 2019 she was a guest panelist for a “Conversation about Jewelry” as part of New York City Jewelry Week.
