Here are the latest updates for Jewelry Camp 2008:
We are pleased to announce that McTeigue will be sponsoring the Wine and Dessert party Saturday night and will be making a presentation at the start (7:30 pm) with a display of interesting period pieces.
McTeigue has been in business since 1895, and is a fourth generation family company dedicated to the buying and selling of fine estate jewelry, diamonds, and precious stones. They are a member of the AGS, the New York DDC, GIA Alumni Association, and the American Society of Jewelry Historians.  McTeigue is a strong dealer in domestic and international markets, exhibiting at the Original Miami Beach Antique Show, the Hong Kong Jewelry and Watch Show, Las Vegas Antique Jewelry and Watch Show, Palm Beach Jewelry Show, JCK Las Vegas, and the Macau Jewelry Show.  Recognized for their global position in the world jewelry market, McTeigue served on a discussion panel at the ISA Conference 2008 on behalf of Heritage Auctions.
With four graduate gemologists on staff and a team of estate jewelry experts, McTeigue applies extensive trade experience with comprehensive technical study. Visit them at www.McTeigue.com.

                                             Saturday Night Happenings
_____________________________________________________________________
By popular demand, the Wine & Dessert party will be a networking night for trading, showing, buying and selling. There will be tables set up for wine, coffee and dessert, as well as a series of tables against the walls (12 tables available on a first come-first served basis) for people who would like to display. Although there will be security provided, all buying, selling, trading and displaying is at one’s own risk. The Antique Jewelry & Art Conference, Inc (Jewelry Camp) and Hofstra University assume no liability for any actions taken by any party, foreseeable or not, and make no claim as to the representation of items displayed traded or sold. No guarantee is represented regarding security.
I hope next year to bring an Antique and Jewelry show to Long Island during Jewelry Camp. Please contact me for information.

A Thank You to Joyce Jonas

Something you don’t want to miss opening day. During the opening comments, I will be acknowledging Joyce Jonas with an award, as the tradition of Jewelry Camp is passed on to my directorship.
                                                        For Appraisers

For appraisers and other attendees who are interested, there will be a round table discussion on Saturday the 12th from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Attendees may purchase and bring in dinner. Everyone is welcome to participate. Topics may include fair market value, insurance issues, and developing a model for licensing. Members of ASA, AAA, NAJA, ISA, insurance companies, the JVC, lawyers and individuals from the IRS have been invited to attend and participate.

                                                     Special Thanks
_____________________________________________________________________
I would like to thank everyone who has helped this year to bring back Jewelry Camp: Gus Davis of Camellia Dietz Bergeron, Ltd., Ben Macklowe of Macklowe Gallery, Kentshire Gallery, Michael Goldstein, Ltd., and of course special thanks to McTeigue andHarry Winston, Inc.
I would also like to thank all my friends who persuaded me to bring Jewelry Camp back. Jewelry Camp should be fun and a learning experience. The more exposure you have to the material, the more you learn. Remember, the only bad question is the one you did not ask. I hope everyone has as much fun as my wife and I have had doing it.
Looking forward to hearing from everyone with interesting stories, facts and events.
I am also looking forward to providing links of importance to the Jewelry and Art worlds. Please contact me for information. If you have friends you want added to our email list, send their e-mail addresses to ealcas@msn.com.

 Till next month!
 Best regards,
 Edward
